Stepping into Spring
It almost feels like spring down here in Devon. Pottering in the garden on Saturday afternoon, coat-free and surrounded by daffodils, was bliss.
Spring brings feelings of hope, optimism, and potential. Everything is waking up.
Energetically, we’re transitioning between the stillness of winter (the Water element) and the upward, vibrant energy of spring (associated with the Wood element). The Wood element is held within us by the Liver and Gallbladder. The Liver energy is like our inner tree—growing, expanding, and reaching towards new horizons.
This seasonal shift can evoke conflicting emotions. In clinic this week, many clients have shared both excitement for what’s ahead and resistance to leaving cosy nights by the fire. There’s joy in the sunshine, but also a hint of overwhelm at all the doing that spring encourages.
Now is the time to take an intentional pause—to prepare your inner world for what you want to grow. As I cleared away weeds and old plants on Saturday, I imagined what I wanted to plant in their place, picturing how I’d like the garden to look and feel. This is the time to do the same within—clearing space for new possibilities and gently nurturing the seeds of ideas within us.
The energy that’s ready to shift has the power of a coiled spring. Over the next couple of weeks, I invite you to move slowly as we begin to unfurl and wake up.
As we step into spring, I’ll be sharing ways to support this transition—practical ways to nourish your Liver and Gall Bladder—so we can move forward feeling balanced, energised, and light.
