Acupuncture for Stress and Anxiety in South Devon

Acupuncture for Stress, Anxiety and Sleep in Kingsbridge, Chillington & Modbury

Treating mental and emotional issues with acupuncture is an area I’m passionate about and love to work in.

As a holistic medicine, it treats “the outside” (structural problems and physical illness), but the inside is always addressed and is often at the core of each treatment.

With Acupuncture treatment rooms in Kingsbridge, Chillington and Modbury, I treat people from all over the South Devon area, including Dartmouth, Plymouth, Totnes, and Salcombe.

Can acupuncture help with Stress and Anxiety?

Acupuncture helps with stress and anxiety through several interconnected mechanisms:

  • Periods of stress and anxiety can, from a Chinese medicine point of view, create tension and “stuckness” within the body. By stimulating specific acupuncture points that influence the flow of "qi", or energy, we help restore balance and harmony within the body.

  • Acupuncture promotes the release of endorphins and other neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine, which play critical roles in regulating mood and alleviating feelings of anxiety.

  • Acupuncture can modulate the autonomic nervous system, reducing the activity of the sympathetic "fight or flight" response and enhancing the parasympathetic "rest and digest" system, which helps to calm the body and mind.
